Australian Captain Steve Smith Says Team Is Capable To Win First Ever T20 World Cup

Having played three successful matches against South African cricket team, Australian team is quite confident about winning ICC T20 World Cup tournament. After conquering the top position in World Test series ranking, Captain Steve Smith mentioned that there are two more things left to do by the team, one is winning T20 World Cup tournament and other is an Ashes on English soil.

Australian cricket team went to South Africa to play three warm up matches against the team on last Sunday before the major event, which is to be held next month in India. Although team India is in great form and can prove to be a main mile stone in front of Australia but still skipper Steve Smith is positive about the tournament that ultimately the odds will be in their favor.

Team Australia has never won a T20 World Cup series ever since it began however; they once went close to winning the trophy but failed miserably against England in finals as on 2010. But this year the Australian team is much well prepared to face any kinds of challenges put forth to them. This year the quest of winning the title and placing the only silverware at the headquarters of Australian Cricket Association has become far more important to the team, then any other achievements.

The Australian team went against New Zealand and West Indies last summer and after dedicated approach, they successfully were able to grab them the top position in the Test rankings in last 18 months. The confidence has already build up in the players of the team and despite of the loss in T20 series against India, Captain Steve Smith says that the team is capable to win their first ever T20 World Cup title.

When asked about the fitness level of the Australian players, Steve Smith mentioned several players like Shane Watson, Aaron Finch and James Faulkner who have some minor health issues. But as per teams medical unit all the players will soon get recover from their health issues and will be able to play the first match of ICC T20 World Cup tournament. So the team is not at all worried about the fitness of their players. They surely will show off their skills during the matches.

Smith stated, “We have got some destructive and talented batters up the top of the order.” Although the team has not yet set up the batting line up for the team but again the captain thinks that they have several numbers of players who are eligible to fill up such positions and can prove to be a great batting line up for the team.
