While saving another defeat in IPL 2016, Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 runs in the rain-affected contest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Pune Supergiants were already on the course to win and the stoppage of the game due to rain helped them with a 34-run victory (D/L method). This was Pune’s second win in six matches they played in the tournament so far.
RPS won the toss and decided to bowl first and the furious bowling of Pune packaged the Sunrisers to a score of 118/8. The effort put by bowlers while bowling is really to be praised of. Their batsmen also have complemented the tremendous bowling attack of the Pune bowlers.
Hyderabad had a poor start to their campaign, losing the first two matches. But they have struggledto win three matches consecutively which has put them to the fourth position. In this match, they didn’t start the innings with energy as they lost a wicket in the first over. After the last five overs SRH’s score was72/5, Ashwin was in the mood of attack. Dhawan after making his half-century put SRH in respectable position. Though Faf du Plessis and Steven Smith serve loose deliveries and put on 80-run stand in 8.2 overs before Moises Henriques sent du Plessis back into the trough. Bipul Sharma falls short by direct hit and disappointed SRH by losing their seventh wicket with the scoreboard reading of 92.Moreover Bhuvi scored some crucial runs for SRH and finally Pune restricted Hyderabad to 118/8.
Pune, on the other hand, seem to have lost their campaign in the IPL 2016. After losing four consecutive matches they have struggled to find the right combination to upgrade their position from bottom to the top of the scoreboard. They started off the Tuesday’s match in promising fashion with blessing of the rain. Chasing a model total of 119 was not a big deal but Bhuvi took the first wicket after his first delivery. Du Plessis and Smith played very well and kept the run rate steady. Warner and Mustafizur Rahman did splendid blowing in search of wickets, Pune was marching towards modest chase and suddenly Dhoni’s catch was taken by Tare and the score became 94/3. At that very moment rain arrives and the match was put to end and the decision was taken on the basis of D/L method. Finally the captains of both the teams shake hands and Pune register a seven wicket win over Hyderabad.
