Role in black tornado operation and death reason of Sandeep Unnikrishnan
On 26 November 2008 at night, various buildings in south Mumbai were under a terrorist attack. One of the building’s hostages was held at the 100-year-old taj mahal palace hotel. He was the team commander of 51 SAG and deployed in a hotel for hostages rescues.
Sandeep Unnikrishnan entered the hotel with the 10 commanders group and reached six floors through the staircase. He immediately arranged for the evacuation of injured officers and engaged the tourists in the firefight. Then, he decided to chase the terrorists alone, as they wanted to escape to the next floor.
The encountered Sandeep Unnikrishnan followed that he managed to corner four all terrorists to the ballroom on the northern end of the taj mahal hotel.
