mesothelioma survival rates vary depending on a number of factors. These include the stage of mesothelioma, the type of mesothelioma, the location of the tumor, and the patient’s age and general health. In general, however, mesothelioma survival rates are low. The five-year survival rate for mesothelioma is only about 10 percent. This means that only one in ten people diagnosed with mesothelioma will still be alive after five years. However, there are some patients who do survive for much longer periods of time. There have been cases of people living for 20 years or more after being diagnosed with mesothelioma.
There are a number of treatment options available for mesothelioma, and these can improve survival rates. Surgery is often used to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Radiation therapy and chemotherapy are also used to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Clinical trials are ongoing and new treatments are being developed all the time, so it is important to talk to your doctor about all of your options.
Even with treatment, mesothelioma is a difficult disease to fight. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, it is important to get support from family and friends. There are also many organizations that can provide information and assistance. The Mesothelioma Foundation, for example, offers support services and financial assistance to mesothelioma patients and their families.
No one should have to face mesothelioma alone. With the right support and treatment, however, it is possible to improve your chances of survival.
