Canadian Provincial Nominee Programs Invite Nurses During COVID 19

The Canadian Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has been serving for the past few weeks, with invitation rounds taking place in most Canadian provinces. In its latest PNP draw held on May 22, 2020, the Province of Nova Scotia issued letters of interest to registered nurses for a provincial nomination with a profile in the express entry system. Nursing candidates who were invited in the draw. Selected Registered Nurse (NOC 3012) as the primary occupation when creating their express entry profile. Selected candidates are now eligible to submit an official application for permanent residency in Canada through the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program.

Several of these invitations have been issued through so-called “enhanced” enrollment streams that allow provinces to nominate candidates in the federal express entry system that manages Canada’s pool of candidates from the three major economic immigration categories Are – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

On May 22, Nova Scotia held the Provincial Nominee Program draw and invited registered nurses to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada through its Labor Market Priorities Stream.

The following conditions must be met for the May 22 draw:
• The primary occupation must be selected as Registered Nurse-NOC 3012 from Canada’s NOC list.
• Complete at least 3 years of work experience of the express entry stream for which you have qualified. Also, submit a letter of reference from your employers.
• Keep a valid express entry profile and meet the basic requirements of IRCC;
• A Canadian language benchmark score is 8 or higher for all language abilities in English or French; And
• A bachelor’s degree or program of 3 years or more at a university, college, commercial or technical school, or other institutions.

Successful applicants are required to submit copies of all the necessary documents within 60 calendar days from the date of invitation. Once the province of Nova Scotia agrees to your application, you will be entitled to 600 points on your current comprehensive ranking system score. Further, increase your chances of getting an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the next express entry draw.

Express Entry candidates who get provincial nominations earn an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and effectively move to the front line for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
