In recent years, Meghalaya has become the most visited destination when it comes to explore the north eastern part of India. This place is a perfect amalgamation of aesthetic and natural beauty. It is the perfect place for one who is looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

If one is planning to visit Meghalaya this winter, then these are the following places which they never should miss.

 Mawlynnong Village, Shillong

This village in Meghalaya has been voted to be the cleanest village in entire Asia and so this is a must visit that has to be added in the bucket list. The roads are garbage free and the houses are rural huts that look divine. Also there is the famous Mawlynnong waterfall which a perfect natural beauty to see. One can also get to see the live root bridge in this place and it is a favourite place for those people who are interested in archaeology. It is one of the serenest places that one can visit.

Laitlum Canyon, Shillong

If one loves to trek, then this can be the perfect place in Meghalaya for them. It is the most famous trekking expedition route that one has to try in north east. This one can be easily achieved as a trekking route if one follows proper guidelines and it takes almost 4 to 5 hours to do that. Once one reaches the top, they get the panoramic view of the place which is absolutely wonderful. One can also trek till the Lwai falls if they want to explore more.

Double Decker Living Root, Cherapunjee

This is located just at the heart of the most rain faced place of India and people from all over the world comes to visit this particular place just to visit this. One has to trek till the bridge and it is located in the Nongriahat Village which is not very easy to reach. One has to cross almost 2000 slippery steps and one can do that with the help of a cane to get a proper grip and not to lose balance. But if it can be done, then this is something not worth missing.

Lalong Park, Jowai

This place is located around 10 kilometres from Jowai and it is a perfect place where one can relax after doing a trek. From the Myndtu River, the view that one gets is worth visiting the place and the lush greeneries around soothes the eyes completely. One can also go for fishing in the lake if they have a knack for it.

Balpakram National Park, Tura

This place is located in Tura and for nature enthusiasts, it is a must see place. The landscape is beautiful but along with that one gets to see gorges and canyons here which overlook the Tanguar Haor in Bangladesh. This is a natural stone structure but local people out there believe to be a supernatural phenomenon.

One can easily reach these places by train and a car drive. For food in train one can rely on e catering services.
