With the wide-ranging availability of DTH options in the market, it can be challenging to pick the best one for a new DTH connection at home. Although choosing a set-top box provider based on recommendations from some acquaintances has become a trend, not making an informed decision can be costly and keep you away from the benefits that you would have enjoyed otherwise.
If you wish to make a smart purchase decision, you must check the five pointers that shouldn’t be avoided while getting a DTH connection at home.
Table of Contents
Toggle1. DTH Connection: Package Price And Channels
Unlike most customers, avoid comparing the initial cost of the set-top box to make your purchase decision. You must understand that monthly package costs are more significant than the one-time charge or fee for a new DTH connection.
Although it’s time-consuming, you must prepare a list of channels that you want from your DTH connection. Then, look for the minimum package price that would include all your listed channels. You must choose the one that ensures the maximum required channels at the minimum possible price. Also, when calculating the cost of channel packages, you just add the HD channel’s subscription cost.
2. DTH Connection: Types of Set-Top Box
You must know that there are three types of set-top boxes – High Definition (HD), Standard Definition (SD), and 4K (Ultra HD). You must choose the set-top box depending on your TV’s specification. For instance, you can choose a full HD set-top box if you have a LED/LCD TV. However, you can go for an SD set-top box if you have a tube TV. For TV with 4K picture quality, you should straightaway choose the 4K set-top box.
Also, consider the recording feature while deciding the set-top box type. Several set-top boxes support the recording feature with the help of a USB pen drive. However, it doesn’t mean that you can record a channel while simultaneously watching another one. You would need a Recorder set-top box with great storage capacity for such a premium facility.
3. DTH Connection: Warranty
A new DTH connection comes with a one-year warranty. However, the warranty coverage varies from one DTH provider to another. For instance, Tata Play ensures warranty coverage for remote and accessories.
Warranty is a crucial factor that you shouldn’t avoid at all costs while getting a DTH connection at home. That’s because the high voltage fluctuations and extreme weather conditions in India may result in your set-top box failing. You must know about the warranty details after calling the customer care number of the DTH provider.
4. DTH Connection: Service
It’s the most crucial factor to consider while getting a DTH connection. As a DTH and OTT platform customer simultaneously, you will often require customer care support. Whether it’s an account-related issue or re-alignment hassle, you will need customer service. So, you must call the customer care service of every service provider to determine their response and waiting time. You must pick the provider that ensures the least waiting time or quick response as they care the most about you.
