ToggleThe Rise of SMS Popularity
As a result of the pandemic, online SMS text messaging has become a crucial part of marketing strategies for businesses. One of the most widely used communication channels is text messaging. It’s free to use for everyone, and it’s available on almost any mobile device. In addition, it has a lucrative open rate, which is higher than email. So while phone calls are effective, they can sometimes be inconvenient if you’re not called at the right time.
Using SMS to Communicate Better
SMS can be used for various transactional and promotional business messages. You can add a couple of tags or symbols to your message to make it more personalised.
- Customer Service Communications
Setting up two-way SMS can allow you to communicate with customers more directly and personally. It’s faster than sending an email and more likely to be noticed. For instance, you can use text messaging to resolve account registration issues or request feedback.
- Ordering and Delivery Confirmations
If you’re an e-commerce company, sending out delivery updates and order confirmations via text messaging is a great way to keep your customers informed about transactions. Also, since text messages have a higher open rate than emails, they are more likely to be seen by users.
- Appointment Reminders
Not being able to provide your customers with the necessary services is costly for many businesses, especially in the healthcare and beauty industries. Sending appointment reminders a few days before an appointment is set can help reduce the number of no-shows and cancellations. It can also help keep your customers informed about their appointment status.
- Emergency Alerts
If you’re in a crisis, text messaging is ideal because it can be used to communicate with customers and employees even if the internet isn’t working. Also, since it’s sent and received by a cellular network, it’s faster than email.
- Internal Communications
Internal communications are typically delivered through email, staff presentations, or an intranet. These methods have pros and cons, and one of the disadvantages is that emails are often ignored. However, using text messaging for certain tasks can be effective. For instance, it can be used to send out security alerts and meeting reminder messages.
- SMS Marketing
One of the most common ways businesses use text messaging is to send marketing messages to multiple recipients simultaneously. It’s fast to send various promotional and transactional messages, such as a special offer or a flash sale. Since you only have 160 characters for your message to be compelling, it’s simple to come up with a creative message template. Just choose which recipients to send it to and hit the send button.
Determining How to Best Use SMS With Your Business
Before you start using SMS text messaging for business, you must identify the type of messages that you want to send. This will allow you to make the most of it. For example, when using text messaging for business purposes, the primary purpose should be to improve customer service and boost sales. The other goal should be to make communication more influential among the staff.
Before setting up the service, you should determine the type of messages that you want to send. You should also determine the number of messages you need to send and the frequency of these messages. Having a well-defined set of requirements is important when it comes to implementing text messaging for your business.
With the increasing number of options available, it’s now easier than ever to start using business texting and instant messaging to reach out to your target customers. SMS notifications are effective ways to capture the attention of potential and existing customers.
Final Thoughts
According to studies, the popularity of text messaging has surpassed calls on mobile devices. It’s now an integral part of people’s lives, whether they’re at work, school, or home. As a result, businesses have the opportunity to make the most out of using SMS to communicate better with their audience.
