How Will You Prepare For Each Section Of The SBI PO Exam?

It is the dream of lakhs of aspirants to secure a job in the SBI, and the exam for the post of PO is a difficult and complex one. So, if you are determined to crack the examination on the first attempt, you must prepare well and use your time efficiently. To begin your preparation, you should learn about the syllabus of sbi po and develop a strategy for each section. You can also gain some important insight from the details mentioned below to prepare for each section and accurately attempt the maximum number of questions.

Quantitative Aptitude

You should have a good grasp of quant to qualify for the prelims and the mains. To prepare for this section, you must do the following.

  • You should have a clear idea about the basics to learn the shortcuts.
  • To get help with your shortcuts, you can learn Vedic maths.
  • As you see an improvement in your calculation speed, cover the basic chapters like number system, profit and loss and percentages, which will also set the pace for other chapters.
  • Try working on various questions on time and work and mixture allegation; there are high chances you get questions asked from these areas.
  • Lastly, to master the topic of data interpretation, you must resort to rigorous practice and concepts of Vedic maths that you learned previously.
  • There are no shortcuts for mastering missing numbers and number series. You must repeatedly practise getting used to the patterns.
  • Try solving about 40-50 problems daily and assess your mistakes.
  • When you have completed the syllabus, start taking mock tests to know how well-prepared you are.

Reasoning 

As per the syllabus of sbi po, the important topics covered in the reasoning section are input-output, inequality, coding and decoding, puzzles, seating arrangement and syllogism. You need to do the following to prepare for the reasoning section.

  • Solve previous years’ questions and give mock tests as much as possible.
  • Try to learn tricks to solve questions on alphanumeric or numeric series and syllogism easily.
  • Restrict your time to three minutes when solving puzzles. If you find any difficulty, move ahead and revisit the question later.
  • Start your exam by attempting the easiest topics, like inequalities and syllogism.
  • Keep a note of your speed by setting a timer during practice.

General English

Scoring in this section is quite easy in the prelims, but you should be prepared for a high level of questions in the mains round. For that, you need to do the following.

  • Improve your reading habit
  • Note down the new words you come across to develop your vocabulary.
  • Revise the grammar rules and take mock tests
  • Practice Comprehension tests to improve your speed

General financial awareness and Computer Aptitude

Pay a good amount of attention to general financial awareness and computer aptitude, which can significantly affect the mains’ results. For that, you need to do the following.

  • Note down current affairs regularly.
  • Take tests frequently to retain the information.
  • Practise previous year’s question papers to understand the variation in questions.

Descriptive paper

The descriptive paper needs you to have a good command over the letter and essay writing. To ace your descriptive paper, you need to do the following.

  • Develop your typing skills.
  • Be accustomed to different formats of formal letters.
  • Minimise spelling and grammatical errors through regular writing practice.
  • Improve writing skills and vocabulary by developing your reading habits.
  • Write regularly on trending topics to develop your writing skills.

Preparing for SBI PO requires perseverance, dedication and hard work. To channelise your efforts in the right direction, you should have a well-curated study plan to cover all the topics and revise repeatedly. Also, take a step back sometimes and look at the areas of improvement to make your preparation more effective.
