‘Mind-Body’ connection is a well-known technique that has treated dozens of issues. Numerous people seem to be distrustful when it comes to hypnotherapy or in lay persons words hypnosis. While these two words hold two different meanings, the former being one of the psychotherapy and the latter being the state of mind while the hypnotherapy is done on the client. There are many common myths such as it is possible to hypnotize against your will while a fact remains anyone who actively resists attempts to induce hypnosis cannot be hypnotized. So there are so many other myths that people tend to question leading to question its effectiveness.
But it is a very simple and safe intervention that can treat many issues from being able to control pain through hypnobirthing to helping aid weight loss, improve symptoms of phobias, depression and anxiety, to treat addiction, pain management and variety of other applications. Hypnotherapy induces a client in a trance level technically referred as a hypnotic state that is marked by a state of waking awareness in which people experience detached external attention and a focus on inner experiences.
What happens and how Hypnotherapy works?
Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses the power of suggestions to bring out positive change in a person. The person goes through a process that induces a trance-like state that helps them to focus their minds, respond readily to suggestions and become deeply relaxed. Hypnotherapy then avails oneself in elevated consciousness of the hypnotic state to help a person focus on the problem more deeply. During the session-
> You will be guided to visualize yourself in a state of relaxation and placidness even when tackling a problematic behavior or the target of your fear.
> The hypnotherapist then begins to change work using techniques and approaches that will help you understand the root causes of your concern as well as equip you to tackle your problem with ease. The techniques used in hypnotherapy are tailored to the individual needs of the client.
> Finally the last leg of the process will be bringing you out of the trance to a state of wakefulness.
The beauty of this entire process is that the client even though, would be in a state of trance, is always aware of the present and what he/she is sharing.
The duration of the hypnotherapy session entirely depends on the client’s response, but typically each session is around 45 mins to 1 hour. And the number of sessions depends upon multiple factors such as the severity of the concern, the willingness to therapy, the response etc. While for some it can be just one session, for others it may take a couple of sessions to get a satisfactory result. But having said that, unlike many other therapies which take years to contemplate the client’s issues, in many cases, hypnotherapy needs just takes a couple of sessions to address a specific issue.
I hope this article made many of you aware and clear some of the myths of hypnotherapy and if you feel you would like to experience hypnotherapy to get a clear picture of what exactly it is and if you have any issues that are bothering you. Waste no time, and choose the best therapist.
