Among the over one hundred celebrities who attended this evening, pop stars, politicians, and YouTube sensations interpret various degrees of the theme “American Independence.” There were many colorful pieces during the evening, from traditional red, white, and blue to old-fashioned Hollywood glamour and head-to-toe gold. Clothing, nails, faces, and hair shone brightly on the carpet.
As celebrities usually don’t adhere strictly to themes anyway, Everyone is looking forward to seeing how they interpret the theme of the Met Gala this year.
The most awaited MET GALA returns.
Since a year and a half ago, we have worn pajamas to work; and we have disowned our gowns and high heels. Once again, we will watch fashion from the comfort of our couches this evening at the Met Gala.
New York’s Met Gala finally kicked off on Monday evening in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests and the impending vaccine mandate. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, last year’s event was canceled and was rescheduled for the same reason as this year’s.
Naomi Osaka, Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, and Billie Eilish co-chairs, while Adam Mosseri from Instagram, Tom Ford, and Anna Wintour are honorary chairs.
Like the Oscars and the Olympics of fashion, the Costume Institute Gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art is the Metropolitan Museum’s annual major fundraiser. A major exhibition will also open at the event. This year’s show is more overtly political than usual, called In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. The red carpet was also overtly political, with outfits that addressed income and gender inequality issues and even offered solutions.
Here are the looks from last year that remain in our heads, from camp classics to elaborate dresses.
● Kim Kardashian at Camp: Notes on Fashion (2019)
Besides Kim’s floral dress and gloves, she also had several standout looks at the Met Gala. At this year’s Met Gala, she wore a jaw-dropping silicone dress by Thierry Mugler.
“Camp: Notes on Fashion.” spent several months designing the dress, which was covered in dripping crystals to appear as if Kim had emerged from the ocean.
Her dress was covered with a couture corset by Mr. Pearl that had indentations throughout.
● Chadwick Boseman at Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination (2018)
Met Galas are often focused on women, but now and then, a man’s appearance fits the bill perfectly.
He wore a Versace white cape adorned with gold crosses to Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, a fashion event honoring Boseman. A superb male look at the Met Gala.
Beyonce at China: Through The Looking Glass (2015)
When you are Beyonce and look this good, there is no need to be on time, do you? Beyonce was late to China: Through The Looking Glass event.
Beyonce wore a form-fitting, sheer dress from Givenchy that had green, white, and pink crystals affixed to it, but this wasn’t exactly on the theme.
● Rihanna at China: Through The Looking Glass (2015)
The Met Gala would not be the same without Rihanna.
Whatever she does, whether it’s wearing a papal hat or a rose bush look, she never fails to impress.
In this yellow cape gown, which took Guo Pei more than two years to create, Rihanna wore a 16-foot train and weighed over 25kg.
● Katy Perry at Camp: Notes on Fashion (2019)
Katy dressed custom as a chandelier in a Moschino outfit, made the 2019 event a glitzy affair by showing up dressed so beautifully.
Her crystal-studded dress included a chandelier that floated around her waist, as well as an intricate headpiece that was probably tough to carry.
The famous and such successful stars of Hollywood never fail to impress audiences through their look. Every year, everyone is mesmerized usual multiple styles that are presented at the Met Gala.
Here is a look and style that caught everyone’s attention. We are all looking forward to seeing what Met Gala 2021 has in store. Thank you for reading our blog.
