Mhoit Goel, the Managing Director of Ringing Bells based in Noida said that customers who have registered for the smartphones would receive the product on time. According to his statement given to Press Trust of India he said “We will start shipment of Freedom 251 from June 28 to customers who paid for it earlier on COD (cash-on-delivery) basis.”
Freedom 251 began selling the smartphones via their website in February that gave rise to a huge controversy with the cheapest smartphone in the World. Some even referred to it as a fraudulent scheme however; the company came out of the product and also refunded the amounts to the consumers ensuring the product is not a fraud. As the company revealed about 30,000 people paid for the new smartphone and more than 7 crore people have registered for Freedom 251. Later on it was said that they would carry out a cash on delivery for those who have registered for the phone. Goel said that there is a secret supporting the price due to which they won’t face any difficulties providing cheapest one that’s really amazing. Chaddha said “The money will come in the form of debt and equity (1.5:1).”
The phone would have been manufactured with the plants at Noida and Uttranchal and the overall estimate to set up the plants is Rs. 250 crores. Such plants would have the capacity to produce 5 lakh phones that would help them to manage the high demand easily. But on the other hand, the industry players are expressing confusion over the claims revealing that this can go fatal anytime. Freedom 251 is a 3G enabled handset and even the company would come under Income Tax Department and scanner of Excise that’s again a controversial issue.
