E-challan

A complete guide about E-challan

The Rules of the Road Regulation of 1989 mandates that all road users adhere to a set of traffic rules and regulations. Many vehicle accidents occur in India today because traffic laws are not followed. The Government of India has launched an initiative called E-challan to improve its services and promote transparency. Traffic violators can now pay e-challans online or offline, depending on the service given by their state or municipal, according to the notion of digitalization. You should always follow traffic regulations. When traffic cops apprehend a traffic violation, they are now given swiping machines that allow them to generate a printed challan on the spot. E-challan creates a real-time entry in the traffic police server and this can even led to adverse consequences in future.

What happens if you don’t pay fine?

If you do not submit your challan on time, it will most likely be taken to court. The vehicle owner must then appear in court to pay the fines. After a period of time, the traffic cops will issue an on-the-spot challan to the court. The driver’s license is taken in the case of an on-the-spot challan, and the person responsible must go to court to get it back. The court may summon you or issue a non-bailable warrant against you if you suspect you may be able to receive another paper if you do not appear in court. You might face large penalties and possibly jail time if this happens. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of paying your traffic challan online, you can pay it at the local traffic police station in your neighborhood.

How police or govt can recover the amount?

You have no legal power to collect the fine from the traffic cops. You can pay them, but they lack the legal ability to demand immediate payment from the motorist. If you break the rules, they can simply stop you and give a citation. The fine is ordered to be recovered by the court. The property can then be recovered by the police administration. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of paying your traffic challan online, you can pay it at the local traffic police station in your neighborhood. Remember that the Blackberry devices handed to the traffic cops have all of your information. Below is the list of steps you can follow to pay e-challan online:

  • Visit the webpage of your state’s transportation department.
  • A section titled e-challan payments or traffic violation payments can be found.
  • If the payment section for traffic violations appears, select the type of infraction for which you are paying the price.
  • Enter the number from the e-challan or the car registration.
  • Fill in the captcha code.
  • If you’re paying with a debit or credit card, go ahead and enter your information.
  • You can also pay for the e-challan using online payment methods.
  • You will receive an SMS verifying your challan payment after you pay the fine.
