Picking out engagement rings or wedding bands can be an exciting process that involves a lot of choices. A diamond band may be the way to go if you’re working with a smaller budget. A diamond band consists of small diamonds set into a silver or gold band. This option is usually more affordable than a large center stone. If you have a slightly larger budget, you may be in the market for center stone engagement rings. A center stone ring features a single, large diamond that is the ring’s focal point. The center stone ring can be more expensive due to the size and quality of the diamond. Center stone rings are also a classic and beautiful ring style.
While choosing between diamond bands or center stone, you may want to deliberate on each option’s maintenance costs as well. A center diamond may demand more frequent maintenance than a diamond band due to the exposure of the stone.
Personal Style
When it comes to rings, everyone has a unique style and taste. When selecting a ring design, take into account the style that your significant other would like best. Center stone rings can include a variety of diamond cuts that each bring their own stylistic flair to the ring. Diamond bands also provide a beautiful and modern alternative to the classic style.
Don’t be afraid to ask your significant other what type of ring they like. If you’re looking to keep this a surprise, you may want to take note of the style of rings they wear in day-to-day life.
Lifestyle
As you’re choosing between a diamond band and center stone ring, it may also be helpful to consider your partner’s lifestyle. Center stone rings include a large diamond that is set onto the ring and protrudes out. While this design is beautiful, there is a higher likelihood of getting the stone caught on something or of the ring causing discomfort for the wearer. If your partner works in a field like nursing, construction, or another active job that involves using their hands, a diamond band may be a more practical choice.
Many who work in these fields still opt for a center stone ring, but have a smaller band that they can wear to work. If your partner has an active job, but prefers the style of a center stone ring, you may consider purchasing an additional small band to allow them an option.
