All You Need To Know About AFCAT
Indian Air Force gives an opportunity to all the eligible candidates to become a part of the Indian Air Force through AFCAT Exam every year. Indian Air Force is one of the three prestigious defence forces of India. Many dream of becoming defence personnel and AFCAT is a gateway for it. Working for the Indian Air Force brings honour and pride. Candidates who crack AFCAT are recruited as Grade-I Gazetted Officers at the Indian Air Force. AFCAT is the acronym for Air Force Common Admission Test. AFCAT is conducted twice every year by the Indian Air Force. The selection process for officers in the Indian Air Force involves two steps. The first stage is a written examination(Non-Technical) and Engineering Knowledge Test (Technical). The candidates who’ll qualify this examination will be called for the SSB Interview. Eligibility Criteria for AFCAT
Age Limit
- The minimum age for the candidates who want to apply for the flying branch is 20 years and the maximum age is 24 years.
- The minimum age for ground duty(Technical & Non-Technical Branches) is 20 years and the maximum age is 26 years.
Educational Qualifications
For Flying Branch
- Graduation with Mathematics & Physics in 12th Standard/BTech/BE with at least 60% from a recognized university.
- Candidates in their final year or semester are also eligible to apply.
Ground Duty(Technical)
Candidates must have Physics & Maths in intermediate(10+2) with minimum 60% marks in both of them & Minimum 4 years Graduation in Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical)
Graduation Degree in any stream with 60% marks or Post Graduation Degree with at least 50% marks.
Candidates also have to fulfil the medical & physical fitness eligibility criteria as well to be eligible for AFCAT recruitment.
AFCAT Vacancy for 2020
Details about AFCAT vacancies for the year 2020 are given below:
- The number of vacancies for Flying Branch is 74.
- The number of vacancies for Ground Duty(Technical) is 105.
- The number of vacancies for Ground Duty(Non-Technical) is 55.
- The number of vacancies for Meteorology Entry is 22.
AFCAT Exam Pattern
Written Examination(Non-Technical)
The written exam will be of 2 hours for 300 marks. There will be 100 questions from the topics that are as follows:
- General Awareness
- Verbal Ability
- Reasoning and Numerical Ability
- Military Aptitude Test
Engineering Knowledge Test(Technical)
The Engineering Knowledge Test(EKT) will be for 150 marks and its duration will be 45 minutes. There will be 50 questions from the following topics:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Electrical & Electronics
The candidates will be allotted 1 mark for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
