Marvelous Win of Mumbai Indians Against KXIP by 25 runs

Little man smashed all the hopes of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2016 IPL match of April 25. This was Mumbai Indians’ (MI) third win in seven outings, whereas the KXIP suffered 5th fifth defeat in six appearances. KXIP win toss and opted to bowl first against the MI but chasing a stiff target of 190 became a tough challenge for Punjab and so they had been restricted to 164 for 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Parthiv Patel’s breezy performance of 81 runs in 58 balls provided the winning path toward Mumbai Indians in Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Monday. The most successful run-partnership in 2016 IPL has been proved by Parthiv Patel and Ambati Rayudu as they together made 137 by their tremendous batting and this 137 runs just like the magic number fetched the winning trophy toward MI.

Invited to bat first, MI lost their skippers, Rohit Sharma. After that Sandeep Sharma managed to do very few runs and left the pitch to be occupied by the amazing pair of Patel and Rayudu. They combined for a 137-run stand to power MI to a formidable total of 189 for six. But in the 15th over Rayudu got out for 65 runs but Patel keeps on batting after completing his half-century with the shining score of 10 four’s and 2 sixes. But the death bowling of KXIP’s Mohit Sharma (3/38) could not be able to stop MI in making the history of score in this season. Patel finally got out in the 19th over off a sharp delivery from Johnson.

In the opening KXIP’s openers Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra did quite well to build the innings but the aggressive bowling of MI restrict them from doing further score in the first 5 overs. The brilliant performance of Tim Southee upfront with just 28 runs in 4 overs made run rate constant whereas the performance of Harbhajan Singh was also be praised. For Kings XI Punjab, Glenn Maxwell finally found form as he top-scored with 56 off 39 balls, hitting 5 boundaries and a huge 6. Shaun Marsh made 45 off 34 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. The Australian duo moved scoreboard with the run rate hovering around 7.5-8 an over. Jasprit Bumrah, another bowler of the MI did an impressive performance by picking up 3 wickets for 26 runs.

At the halfway stage of the innings, Kings XI Punjab score was75 for the loss of 2 wickets, still needing 115 runs from 10 overs. Soon after, Maxwell knocked down with his half century in 33 balls. But Maxwell was keep trying aiming at 190 to score but the game ends with the note that KXIP skipper David Miller remained not out on 30 off 17 balls.
