Tips to boost self-motivation

It was 6 in the morning, Priya heard the alarm going off. She reached for the phone, but she hit ‘stop’ instead of snooze and got up from the bed this time.

Priya got ready and left the house for jogging. She even resisted the urge to have street food on her way back home. After reaching home, she saw her breakfast ready at the dining table. Well, brown bread is certainly not as tasty as street food, but she reminded herself, “it’s healthy.”

Unlike many other mornings, today, Priya left on time, smiling; she patted herself for following a disciplined routine and making healthy choices. “All this is because you gave yourself a pep talk last night.”

“It’s easy to drive self-motivation,” she thought. She reached the office and started work with the same zeal. But by lunchtime, as Priya realized there was so much work she still needed to get done, she lost all the motivation.

Does this situation sound familiar? Well, if yes, you are not alone. All of us have faced a lack of self-motivation at least once in life. But what makes it worse than most of us believe that pep talk from ourselves or someone else is enough to get on track. It can give you a necessary boost, but what helps you keep going is creative planning, organizing, collaborating, and other aspects that form a complete meaning of soft skills.

What does this mean? What are other ways to boost self-motivation? Let’s see without delay.

1.Reduce your to-do list

Are you the kind of person who plans the whole day in their head? From the time you wake up to the time you hit the bed at night, you might have everything planned, from how much time you will spend on morning chores to how much work you will get done in the day.

While thinking about the day the night before is a good idea, adding creative thinking to your life will help simplify your life.

How? It’s simple, analyze your daily routine and assess what activities or tasks demotivate you or aren’t exciting enough. See if you can delegate or eliminate those tasks from your to-do list.

By doing less, you will have more time and energy to focus on the tasks and activities that are important to you.

And if you do a job with more focus and attention, lesser are the chances of errors, and you will quickly get the tasks done. And will only boost your energy and motivation to do more.

2.Celebrate your accomplishment

Let’s go back to the previous example. Remember how Priya felt demotivated by thinking of her pending work for the day. But what if she had thought about the work she had completed since the morning? Would that make a difference to her demeanor?

This is among the main reasons that drain all the motivation from our minds and increase procrastination – focusing on how far away we are from our goal.

So to keep yourself motivated, focus on how far you have come. Measure your success by how much you have achieved or accomplished so far; maybe it’s learning new skills or adopting better habits. This will certainly give you a motivation booster to keep going until you achieve your goals.

3.Adopt and repeat a positive habit

Maybe it is an early morning workout, learning something new, or working on a DIY project; repeating yourself is a mantra to succeed.

Whether you want to create a new routine, change your habits, or achieve something by repeating yourself, you wire your brain to new pathways that help you improve, encouraging you to keep moving towards your goals.

We all feel stuck and lose energy and motivation midway. Instead of beating yourself for lacking motivation, try these ways to get your needed motivational booster. The more you make it a habit, the less you will procrastinate. This will lead you to achieve your goals with the same zeal you started with!
