Five Creative Programmes For A Nursery School

A creative curriculum for nursery children projects individual expression and progresses education. To cover comprehensive topics guarantees that there’s something interesting for every child as per his learning style. An imaginative program study program makes it easier for children to learn and these young minds do have the capacity to digest information far quickly than grown-ups.It’sup-to-theadministrators and teachers to match the children’s development levels with themed curriculums.

Such programmes promote fun-learning activities that keep the children occupied during school time. They can also choose to participate, play quietly and alone or just watch from a certain distance. By theend of the day, children would’ve absorbed many different lessons that’ll eventually nurture their character.

1. Theme-based learning
A curriculum that’s theme-based is far easier to teach as modules sparks up theimagination and cognitive thinking in the children and best for intellectual wellbeing. The primary theme remains in focus for the entire year and rather a broad topic producing opportunities for wide learning and based on the school’s mission statement. For instance, a school that’s based on choice would go for a theme centred on decision-making like “learning to make decisions”.

Once the primary idea’s chosen, thesyllabus can be broken into several educational components for every month in a school year. These complement to the time of year; let’s say thebeach is perfect for August, snowfall for December and so on. Other months that aren’t entirely obvious are perfect for teaching about other important concepts such as numbers, animals and alphabets.

These monthly themes can be further divided into weekly goals to reflect the overall concept. For instance, the August theme with the beach can have a sun, sand and city’s skyline. A winter theme similarly can include snow, outdoor sports and even New Year holidays. All such activities and educational ideas dwell around smaller themes but a crucial part of the primary curriculum.

2. Coordinating exercises
Each activity must coordinate so as to facilitate learning. These corresponding projects and exercises emphasise the learning objects as nursery children learn in a better way through a cycle of repeated and reinforced themes the programme offers. Each day should comprise of various events revolving around the subject core. Take ocean week again from the example; reading a book about fishes is appropriate for language skills and children can colour paper-made fishes. A similar theme streamlines the learning process.

3. Teach with colours
Colours in the rainbow are excellent when the theme revolves around anomalies of different shades. Some exercises are to make them familiarise with the names and how to identify each shade from its unique aspect. Here, the concept of blending different shades and achieving a particular is another lesson but must be taught carefully as it can be confusing for the young.

The teacher may draw a rainbow on a piece of paper or card sheet and allow the children to paint it. They’ll feel enthused and proud to have their artwork displayed on the classroom wall or in their home. With this, identifying colours of the clothes, food, books and toys would be much easier!

4. Animals
This helps to learn about the world, environment and living beings. Group animals as per their genre such as domestic, wild, farm and exotic! Take pictures of household pets such as cats, birds and dogs or simply draw them.

Choose from nursery rhymes such as “Old McDonalds” which discusses many different farm animals. Even wild animals themes and stories are appealing such as “The Three Bears” or “Little Red Riding Hood” that has a big, bad wolf.

Talk about different animals common around the world such as lions, zebras, elephants, tigers and allow them to make identical sounds.

5. The number game
Explore the world of counting and measurement through the number theme by distributing measuring cups to compute the amount of collected sand. Include containers and buckets in the sandbox and assist the children with the cups to fill the plastic containers. You can count children’s toys as well in the list such as stuffed toys. Arrange identical toys in a particular spot and count the numbers to infuse computing skills among the young.

Conclusion
Some of the best nursery schools in Dubai follow this approach which develops a strong foundation for primary and high-school.
