The Report on Lost Performance of Google Search Console 23 & 24 August

Just the last week, the renowned Google search engine went through a tedious time in handling the reporting issues. There was a constant delay in the data delivery, maybe due to a pipeline bug. But what was worrisome was the data vanishing. No matter how much we searched, the history showed nothing as the search console performance report showed too.

With no particular sign from Google that the data would ever be recovered. It is assumed that the data is now gone and will not be recovered ever.

Google issued a statement:

Google then issued a statement stating that “An internal problem has caused a data loss in Search and Discover performance in between August 23 and 24. Users may see a very drastic data drop in the performance reports all this while. This is a problem regarding the missing data in the search console. However, there will not be any problem in

clicks or impressions for the initiated site.”

Losing out on Data:

The Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, Mr. John Mueller, has stated that the data loss won’t be back at all.

Hence, there were no options left for the users to get the data back.

The performance analysis report of the Google Search Console:

The Google Search Console performance report is a daily report on which the users and marketing teams have an eye. This report shows how much visibility and traffic is sent into a site by the Google Search Engine. It shows the left impressions, clicks, average position in search results. This also shows the daily click-through rate and any special features which are associated with the results.

Few very original examples of losing out data:

A typical furor on Twitter showed extremely shocking graphs having huge decreases in clicks and impressions found in the performance report.

There were several notices by 5he users who tweeted about the issue.

No matter how the data looked like nothing has ever happened to it, but it was a fact the data was gone forever. If not for the Search Console, which told us what happened on 23rd and 24 August, we wouldn’t know that the data was lost.

There were several tweets across the Twitter app regarding this, making it to the trending list.

Conclusion-

The data glitches found in the user reports and client reports must give a thorough explanation of the cause. Google has also added an annotation to the Search Console reports Of all the data on August 23rd and 24, which has been lost. However, knowing that there were more impressions and clicks on those two days is what the reporting shows. The only advice is for companies to communicate the issue to their clients to avoid further complications when putting up monthly report files. SEOs will have to add an explanatory report regarding the data loss to their clientele requirements.
