Uttarakhand Floods: Rafting Shut, Alert Issued For Haridwar, Dehradun, And UP After Joshimath Glacier Outburst

We all know that a huge tragedy occurred in Uttarakhand on 7th February 2021. A glacier burst in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand took a huge number of lives and still many workers and villagers are on the missing list. The number of deaths has a chance of showing an uptrend. After such a disastrous incident in Uttarakhand, the government of Uttarakhand has instructed to make all the districts of the state alert. Such districts include Rishikesh, Haridwar, Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun, Rudraprayag. The Uttarakhand government doubts that the level of water in Ganga can significantly show a drastic rise and in such a situation these districts may face huge losses. So to protect them from the beginning, such alerts have been made.

1. Damages of Dam and shut down of rafting

Not only Tapovan Dam but also the damage of Rishikesh dam and Srinagar dam by glacier burst have also been reported. So the government of Uttarakhand has strictly said no to rafting in Uttarakhand.

1070 or 9557444486 is the number of disaster management to rescue people who got stuck in the flood. This shows that the Government is sincere about tackling the whole situation. The government has also asked common people to avoid roaming around the Ganga river because any disaster can happen at any moment.

3. Government Actions

In this situation, nothing can be predicted about the water level changes of Ganga. So the Government of UP announced high alerts so that people can take early precautions. Experts have also been assigned to keep a constant eye on the level of Ganga. The officials have also been instructed to shift the people of Haridwar, Tehri, and other abovementioned districts to a safe place if the situation demands.

4. Assignment of flood companies

Flood companies like SDRF, PAC, and NDRF are strictly instructed by the Government of UP to stay alert all the time. If any such flood happens again, then these companies will be able to take the required actions to safeguard people.

5. Role of the army in such a critical situation

The Indian Army played a vital role in the rescue operation in Uttarakhand. They appointed one engineering team to manage the damages of physical properties, two medical teams to give proper treatment to the injured people, and few choppers to rescue the trapped people in Reni village of Tapovan area. The military team near the Rishikesh area got involved in the rescue operations.

6. Support of UP Chief Minister

Not only Narendra Modi or Amit Shah but Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath have also got hurt for this disaster and promised every possible help in rescue operations and damage control.

The government does not want any more loss of lives or physical properties. This is the only reason behind such high alerts. UP Chief Minister prays for the peace of the soul of all those who have died and wishes for families to become strong who have lost their loved ones in this glacier burst in Uttarakhand.
