Bhavani Devi Becomes First Indian Fencer To Qualify For Olympics
Bhavani Devi, one of the great hope of Indian athletic realm ends her journey in Tokyo Olympics 2020 by accepting her defeat at Manon Brunet on 26th July, 2021 Monday. Though it’s a little bit of upset for all of us. But she has made a history by launching India’s first ever fencing match in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

- Indian woman fencer Bhavani Devi commenced her journey in Olympics with a gush of victory.
- She competed remarkably against Manon Brunet, World No. 3 from France.
- Unfortunately Bhavani lost at Table no. 32. The score became 7-15.
Bhavani Devi’s Tokyo Olympics Journey:-
Bhavani Devi occurred as the pride of India on 26th July, Monday on the forum of India’s prime ever fencing bout in Tokyo Olympics. For so long years she was totally detached from her family for the sake of her sport. All the struggle and hard works ultimately turn a good day in her life. And the name Bhavani Devi must be remarkable as the pioneer of this particular sport from India. Bhavani Devi got 42nd position and was selected the only fencer from India in the Tokyo Olympics. Her fighting determination is really a subject to be saluted again and again.
Bhavani Devi’s Previous Records:-
The date was 27th August, 1993, Bhavani Devi was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Chadalavada Anandha Sundhararaman Bhavani Devi was her full name. She belongs to a mediocre family who’s father was a Hindu preacher and her mother was a simple housewife. Her high school was Muruga Dhanushkodi Girls Higher Secondary in Chennai. Then she was admitted to St. Joseph Engineering college. And finally she decided to accomplish Business Administration study from Kerala’s Government Brennen college. Her sport career began from the year, 2003. She first stepped into fencing in her school level in 2004. After completing the study of class 10, she joined Sports Authority of India in Kerala. When she was just 14, she first went to the international Sports event in Turkey. But unfortunately she was rejected for her late presence. In 2009, Bahavani Devi first won Bronze medal in Commonwealth Games in Malaysia. Again in 2010, she grabbed a Bronze medal in Asian Fencing Championship. It was 2012, when she first achieved Silver Medal in Commonwealth Games held in Jersey from Sabre Team. And also in that Games she archived Bronze medal as an individual. In 2014, the Asian Championship was held in Philippines where she again won the Silver Medal. She won Bronze Medal in Asian Championship in Mongolia in 2015. In 2018 she earned Silver Medal in Tournoi Satellite Fencing Championship.

A focused mind set, loyalty and hard works never can fail in a life. How much hard the struggle is, a great determination can overcome all the obstacles and all the toughest situations. And Bhavani Devi is a promising example of it. Her devotion for this sport and thirst for success gift her this great day in her life.
